Overflowing, Sprouting, or Just Overdue for Gutter Cleaning?

Portland gutters fail in predictable ways. Rain sheets over the front edge instead of reaching the downspout. A downspout gurgles and dumps water right at the foundation. Ferns and maple seedlings start growing out of the trough. Dark tiger stripes run down the gutter face, or the whole run starts pulling away from the fascia under the weight of wet debris.

The usual culprit here is not just fall leaves. Douglas fir needles drop all year, mat together in the trough, and hold water like a sponge. Add one wet Portland winter and that mat turns into a heavy sludge that clogs downspouts, breeds moss, and rusts steel gutters from the inside. By the time water is pouring over the edge in a November storm, the clog has usually been building since summer.

Does any of that sound like your house? Here is what fixing it actually costs.

Not sure where to start? That’s normal. We’ll ask a few quick questions about your gutters and the debris you deal with, then recommend the best-fit cleaning option for your gutters and budget.

What Gutter Cleaning Costs in Portland

Most homes we clean run between $200 and $400. A single-story ranch with straightforward gutter runs sits at the low end. A two-story home with long runs, steep access, or gutters that have not been touched in a couple of years lands closer to the top. Three things drive your exact price: the size of the home, the number of stories, and the type and condition of the gutters.

You do not have to guess where your house falls. Send us your address and a photo or two of the problem areas, and we build your quote the same day using Google Earth to measure your actual roofline. The price we quote is upfront and transparent, with no hidden fees added on-site. You can also text photos straight to (503) 330-8729.

Medium Home

Average Cost: ~$350

Large Home

For larger homes, steep roofs, multi-story access, and heavy debris buildup, the total project cost can reach ~$600+.

What Every Gutter Cleaning Includes

Gutter cleaning is not one task; it is a sequence, and skipping any part of it is why cheap cleanings fail early. Every visit from our crew covers all of it:

  • All gutters cleared by hand and blower down to bare metal, not just the visible top layer scooped out.
  • Every downspout flushed and checked for flow, since a clean trough with a clogged downspout still overflows.
  • Caked-on sludge and moss softened with an eco-friendly, biodegradable detergent that is safe for your siding, plants, and pets, then rinsed at low pressure so nothing gets damaged.
  • Exterior walls rinsed and the surrounding area swept and blown clean, so the mess we scraped out does not become your problem.
  • A final walk-around inspection of the gutters, downspouts, and surrounding area before we leave.

If we spot damaged hangers, sagging runs, or seams pulling apart while we are up there, we tell you what we found, and you decide what to do about it. No surprise upsells on the invoice.

Our 4-Step Gutter Cleaning Process

Every roof cleaning follows the same documented process, so you know exactly what you’re paying for:

Why Homeowners Pick Us Over the Cheaper Bid

The cheap bid usually skips the downspouts

A quote that undercuts everyone by half often means a quick scoop of the top debris and no downspout flush. The gutters overflow again at the first real storm. Our cleanings go to bare metal and every downspout gets checked, which is why the work lasts.

Ladders and gutters are a bad combination in untrained hands

Gutters bend and pull loose when ladders lean on them, and wet Portland roofs send DIYers to the ER every fall. Our crew is licensed and insured, trained for work at height, and uses stabilizer bars so the ladder never touches your gutters.

If you are not happy, we come back

We back every job with a satisfaction guarantee: if something is not right, we return and make it right at no charge. One of our reviews describes exactly that, a first visit that missed the mark and a follow-up that fixed everything. We would rather earn the next 11 years of your business than win one invoice.

You are dealing with the owner's name, not a call center

Portland Gutter Cleaning Questions, Answered

Most homes run $200 to $400. Home size, number of stories, and gutter type and condition set the price. Send your address and a couple of photos and we will give you an exact quote the same day, free.

Twice a year for most Portland homes: late fall after the leaves finish dropping, and spring to clear out winter debris. If your house sits under Douglas firs, plan on more often, because fir needles drop year-round and mat into clogs faster than leaves do.

Yes, always. Every downspout gets flushed and checked for flow on every job. A clean gutter with a clogged downspout still overflows, so we treat them as one system.

No. All the work happens outside. Leave gates unlocked and pets indoors, and we handle the rest. You will get your quote and confirmation before the visit, so there are no surprises on site.

We point it out and show you, then you decide. If the fix is something we handle, like gutter guards for a chronic clog problem, we will quote it separately. We do not pad invoices with work you did not approve.

If you are cleaning more than twice a year because of fir needles or heavy tree cover, guards usually pay for themselves. Installation for a standard house with about 150 linear feet of gutters runs $375 to $1,875 depending on the guard type, and every install starts with a full cleaning.

Estimates are same-day when you send photos and your address. Scheduling is typically within 1 to 2 days. We work Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 6 PM.

Usually one of three things: a downspout or underground drain that never got flushed, gutters pitched wrong so water pools instead of flowing, or a spot where roof runoff overshoots the trough in heavy rain. On our final inspection we run water through the system, so if something beyond a clog is causing it, we will tell you what we found.
